Huyi Community:Learning Prototypes
Release time:2025-02-13 13:10:15
Community Engagement:The Social Virtual Entrepreneurship Hub (SVEH) is a learning prototype currently under development and experimentation within the Huyixiang (滬羿祥) EduLab. It is supported by a Learning Management System (LMS) and a Virtual Reality (VR) immersive learning platform to create an interactive virtual environment where student-consultants collaborate with small business owners. This initiative is built around the Classroom-as-Organization learning design model. The prototype applies a dialogic approach to teaching entrepreneurship skills, with a strong focus on collaborative learning activities such as team meetings, mentoring sessions, and group discussions involving external industry experts. Immersive VR scenarios are designed to engage students in real-world situations that require critical decision-making and collaborative problem-solving, thereby enhancing their practical competencies. Version 2.0 of the SVEH prototype aims to enhance this experience further by integrating AI-powered tools and advanced VR immersive environments. This continued development is supported by a dedicated VR platform and ongoing pedagogical research. The SVEH Project Team warmly invites members of the Huyi Community—educators, practitioners, and technology specialists—to contribute to developmental research studies focused on the design, implementation, and evaluation of the SVEH learning prototype
The prototype is supported by a LMS and a VR immersive learning platform to create a virtual space where student-consultants collaborate with small business owners. It was created under the Classroom-as-Organization learning design model to introduce genuine organizational challenges, and place students in roles where they must address realistic problems. In addition, the learning prototype employs a dialogic approach to learning, emphasizing learning activities such as team meetings, mentoring sessions, or group discussions with external industry experts. Immersive scenarios were created to expose students to situations that require decision-making and collaboration dynamics, fostering practical problem-solving skills. An immersive scenario was designed where student-consultants assist business owners in starting, developing, and growing their business ideas by connecting them with entrepreneurship mentors, business experts, and teachers. The role of the teacher is to facilitate the preparation of a preliminary business evaluation known as the ‘Business Road Test’. Student-consultants, business owners, and mentors can access the SVEH virtual learning environment at any time to complete the various steps of the Business Road Test, containing a mix of synchronous and asynchronous activities designed to foster collaboration between student-consultants and small business owners including: (1) Synchronous learning involves real-time interactions, such as live-streamed lectures, video conferencing, and guided discussions; (2) Asynchronous learning enables students to access pre-recorded materials, engage in online discussion boards, and work independently; (3) Both modalities are used to complement each other, ensuring flexibility while maintaining active engagement.Within the learning environment, Virtual Hub One-Stop Counter acts as a central point for tracking progress in completing the Business Road Test. Scenarios and storyboards are created to guide students through the process, supported by VR content that simulates real-world business challenges in a controlled yet dynamic setting, allowing participants to engage deeply with the entrepreneurial process. Mentors give targeted feedback and suggestions to enhance business strategies. Students can also connect with broader business networks, facilitating interactions with counsellors, business owners, and executives from both small and larger firms. Access to research services, including library databases and resources, ensures that student consultants can gather relevant market and industry data to support their work. SVEH offers visually and orally engaging immersive experiences supported by a VR immersive platform. These experiences enable students to interact with realistic situations in story-based scenarios that replicate different stages of a consulting project for an entrepreneurial business. AI enhances VR by creating adaptable and interactive environments that allow student-consultants to develop solutions for entrepreneurial projects. For example, learners receive customised guidance to navigate business challenges, or intelligent agents simulate real-world mentors and collaborators, supporting a story-based learning approach.
